UEFA Champions League Soccer

On Tuesday, February 24th two major games occurred between four top caliber teams. The games were Manchester City vs. Barcelona and Juventus vs. Borussia Dortmund. Manchester City is second place in the Barclays Premier League right behind their rival Chelsea. Man City is led by the Argentinean striker Sergio Aguero, who is known to be one of the top strikers in the world. They have won sixteen games, tied seven games, and have only lost three times. Their opponent Barcelona is considered to be the best club team in the world and has one of the best offenses in the world. Its attackers include Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, and Neymar. Messi is considered to be the best player in the world by many and his only competition for the title of best player would be Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid. Barcelona is second place in Liga BBVA right behind its rival Real Madrid. Its record is eighteen wins, two draws, and four losses. The game between Man City and Barcelona was an amazing site to see. In the 16th minute Luis Suarez of Barcelona scored the first goal of the game. In the 30th minute Jordi Alba, a defender on Barcelona, made a beautiful pass and Luis Suarez was able to put the ball in the goal and they went up two to zero. In the 69th minute Manchester City answered back with a goal from Sergio Aguero. Barcelona was able to hold them off and in the end Barcelona won two to one.

The game between Juventus and Dortmund was also very interesting and exciting to watch. Juventus is in first place in Serie A and has seventeen wins, six draws, and only one loss. They are led by the Argentinean striker Carlos Tevez. Their opponent Borussia Dortmund has been known to be one of the best teams in their league (Bundesliga), but has had a bad season this year and is in twelfth place. It is led by the German left forward Marco Reus. The game got off to a fast start when Carlos Tevez scored in the 13th minute off a bounce back from the Dortmund goalie’s hands. In the 18th minute Marco Reus of Dortmund answered back with a fantastic goal. The game was then tied. In the 43rd minute Paul Pogba of Juventus made a beautiful pass to Alvaro Morata in front of the goal and Morata was able to put it in the back of the net. Juventus then held off Dortmund and ended up winning two to one. Both games ended in a score of two to one in the 1st leg of the Champions League between these four teams.
